Ideation / Digital Innovation: FinTech Club

How do we translate a physical space concept into a digital reality, building a brand from the ground up to serve a niche community of next generation fintech entrepreneurs

Challenge

  • Liquid Thought was appointed by RMI Holdings as a strategic innovation partner to ideate, design and build a brand and digital platform from the ground up that would serve a community of next generation fintech entrepreneurs in South Africa.

    The client required a turnkey solution, encompassing the entire ideation, naming, building and launch of the brand and related digital assets to the market. The solution included the design and development of a digital platform to onboard and support both member engagement and management as well as the launch of the brand to the broader financial services community. The project needed to be executed in a very short period of time, with a soft launch three months after the contract was awarded and full launch following three months later.

Solution

  • The AlphaCode brand was created, positioning the community as a high-end financial services club focused on the fintech ecosystem. Following the naming of the brand, Liquid Thought designed the corporate identity, including development of the logo and brand guidelines, and a full suite of physical and digital marketing materials, along with launch collateral.

    Given the short execution window, it was imperative that the project was run using parallel workstreams in an agile manner, allowing the solution to organically evolve in a fluid way.

    A three-tiered digital platform was built, encompassing a public-facing responsive web and mobile site, a self-service member platform supporting the member onboarding process, and an administrative backend with dashboard, reporting and new member approval capabilities. The platform was built to scale, allowing for the addition of new features, member categories, and other additions over time.

    The brand launch began with soft launch events and social media efforts to build an initial membership database and community interaction, followed by the full launch of the platform and physical space.

Result

  • The AlphaCode brand and platform was successfully launched on time to onboard its member community and be launched to the financial ecosystem in South Africa.

    The launch event included titans of industry that came together to share their stories and support the birth of a FinTech Club that’s purpose is to serve the next generation of Financial Services entrepreneurs.

    Since then, AlphaCode has grown in popularity amongst its target audience of fintech entrepreneurs and is today considered a key enabler and proponent of the fintech ecosystem in South Africa.
